Barney - The Parent Nemesis

"Barney is a dinosaur from my imagination....stuck a feather in his cap and that's dinosaur sensation.....WHATEVER!!!"

If you are not a parent as yet....then remember....the above words....and then remember to not make them part of your or your children's life....

If you are a parent and you haven't heard of the above....YOU ARE A BLESSED SOUL!!!!

If you are a parent and are going to correct me that I didn't write the word correctly....read the last word ....WHATEVER!!!

Here is another....

"I love you...you love me....we're a happy family ....with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you.....wont you say you....." (lub me toooo...)

The part in brackets is always sung by my daughter so I couldn't help not write them as hers...."LUB ME TOO...." is my daughter's part of the karaoke.

Barney is this purple dinosaur who is a fan-favourite with young children and a nemesis for parents. Okay you can be OK with a jingle or two once in a while but not all the time.

This last weekend we had plans to go out to this MEET-BARNEY-IN-PERSON show at Toys R Us and we reached in time as we knew there would be quite a rush. It was not quite a rush....it was a Las Vegas Heavyweight Fight Night. No parking in the closeby area so I had drop off the ladies and park in the wilderness and then rush back to the store only to find out that the only way to see that Purple Extinct Loser of an Animal who smokes POT was if the parent make a queue and then you will go into another room where you will have your 2 minutes of BARNEY.

My daughter has too short an attention span right now and I don't think she really cared after a little while. There were enough toys around to play with to worry about BARNEY. I liked her attitude of "Who does he think he is anyway?". She went along playing with other stuff while I evaluated the queue and stayed around trying to avoid pushing other mothers in the line. The coordinator kept shouting to all parents that they will call it off if we can't make a queue....we were being treated like kids....how disrespectful?

Mayg kept asking my daughter once in a while...."Barney? You wanna meet Barney?" and after she had had enough of Barney's celebrity attitude....she just said ...."No Barney....lets get some FRIES...."This was the chance we wanted....Mayg signaled and I responded even though I somehow wanted to see this dinosaur after the long wait to let him know how stressful he has made our lives....but not to be. While I was moving out of the queue...I heard the announcement...."The Meet-The-Barney show has been called off" hehehe....

What losers? Manipulating the parents...for a gimmick. I was almost sure that Barney wasn't even there in the first place. I felt really cheated and I don't think I am going to go there again soon. They managed to sell the few Barney toys they had as children not as controlled as our daughter were whining...."Barneyyyyy....waaaaa!!! I wanna see Barney...." Parents had to buy something with Barney on it so puppets, balloons...stuff toys....all sold like anything....I call that really manipulative....

Anyway, I was googling for who the person is inside that Purple Suit so that I could curse him to the grave. I found out that for a long time, it was David Joyner until recently. Yes the guy is Black and looks like a thug. Now they have a new Barney man inside ....whose name is Carey Stinson. Unfortunately, there weren't any pictures of him around. You can see more detailed names to curse or praise here. See the whole team who is involved.

Now that I think of it...I don't really hate the character but I really hated him and the whole team who created him last weekend. It was such a waste of time...especially when I was not feeling 100%. He does make my daughter act cute with the "I love you...." song where she runs and has to find somebody to hug at the "great big hug...." part. Its like religion for her....Whoever out of me or Mayg is close by during the song, gets a free hug.

BTW, found a hilarious ranting via an interview of Mickey Mouse vs Barney. Don't go if you cant take adult comedy.

hehe I can relate with you. My nephew was over and he luvvveeedd barney. We had to buy him DVDs or else he wouldn't eat. We watched the same episode twenty times a day :P. It was horrible. But the way my nephew said " I love u..u luv u.." was too cute and totally worth it
