Parenting updates!

It's been less than 24 hours of my last post and the most amazing thing has happened!

This morning as the little one decided her breakfast menu was going to be peanut butter and jam, I asked hubby to help fix her a bun with pb&j while I ran back to the omelets in the frying pan. I come back to see him holding a butter knife in one hand and the bun in another with this totally confused expression as he asks me.. "so how do I do it?"

Now what do you expect from a guy who makes this cutie face and asks me to fix his toast every time he has to eat one. Or that in this two-and-a-half years of her life, my kid never ate a breakfast that dad fixed for her. I've spoilt them both silly nahi?

But that cute "so how do I do it?" and my heart skipped a few beats! That’s exactly what I married the man for - he sure has a way of masking his laziness behind the cutest of things he does.. either that or I am too much "in luurve" to notice!

That he was honestly clueless and had his *aha* moment when I told him to slit it open and fill the stuff in and the lazy slime, he skipped peanut butter and only spread jam is cuteness taken to another dimension; I don't know if I should be amused or annoyed but at least he tried.. Mona, Maggie, Dipali the message sure seems to have gone across and Sidhusaaheb it seems the public bashing worked its wonders - I'm the happiest!

For all this and more come March 23rd ask the Prez to nominate you for the Pride of Performance..methinks UTP and husbands everywhere "pretend" being clueless so they are not asked to do anything in future.

thanks for helping me think straight aneela!

My kids all accuse me of spoiling my husband whenever I complain about his being lazy. But he is learning even in his mid- fifties, so I guess there's hope for young UTP!

The dearest hubby is the same. I don't think he can locate the jar of PB in the pantry :)

I agree with aneela.. the clueless-ness is definitely a pretense.. and the cuteness.. well they know us too well don't they??!! Mine would ask me where the bun was, and then the pb and then the jelly and then the knife and plate and so on..till I give up and fix it myself!!! :P So there!

I'm not an authority on this, since I've never been married or been in a romantic relationship.

However, from my experience with close friendships, I'd say that strongly criticising the other person in public doesn't do much good in the long run.

This post appears to be more like an expression of love than anything else though.

May God bless all three of you!
