Bringing Water from The Well

I knew I always had the interior designer in me. The only limiting factor in my creativity is that there shouldn't anything hanging alone. No open space along the wall. everything has to fix somewhere. The interior design has to be arranged. I can get creative with putting the dining table in front of the sofa or behind the sofa and the chest of drawers in the corner or in the middle but its got to follow a sequence.
Nothing can be left hanging in the middle and termed abstract. I believe this comes from the naturally analytical mind I have.

Mayg on the other hand, would like her shelves a little up and down on the wall not following any logic and everything ugly like the main switch cabinet and the wiring needs to be hidden and the designing starts after that.

With the concept of starting early, we have always had this opportunity of moving houses which means redoing the setting of stuff that we have. Then buying new stuff and then re-arranging and so forth. I think that is one of the benefits of not having a permanent home even though I would rather have a permanent house than not.

We did a bit of re-arranging this last weekend. It's amazing how moving a few things around, getting rid of a few things and just looking at the same place we call home a little different can be so refreshing. It was a day of a little drilling in the walls, a little hiding of "kachra" (stuff we could live without but we still keep it) and creativity. We ended up with a nice open space where the little one could crawl around as well.

We were content (yet again, Alhumdulillah!). This was until we woke up next day to find the little one absolutely excited with the new space. Crawling like a trooper and jumping over rocks and climbing through the mountain and shooting deer and a fight with a lion or two in the African Jungles. Getting back to reality, you know what I mean. This kid was absolutely hyper-active with the new kind of space she got. She actually stood on her own legs holding on to stuff which was nicely arranged all around the lounge against the walls and started looking around.

In the army line of furniture, dining table, refrigerator, sofa, chest of drawers, small table (with cooler on top) and TV table, we didn't realize that there is a small table with the cooler on top. That table with the cooler on top became the 2-min shower for the little one. She would just walk around the different stuff and when reaching the cooler would push the tap (easily) and get water trickling down her arm all the way down to the feet. Nightmare for the mother who would rush to get her clothes changed. Not too long, she would go down the water lake again and enjoy another free shower.

We quickly realized that this couldn't go on for too long and we finally decided today to move the water cooler to the kitchen. We have always had the water cooler in the lounge as in everybody is used to it. So when I felt thirsty today, I went unconsciously to the place where the cooler was and found nothing. It was then that I realized what we had done. We had moved the cooler to a remote place.

It seemed like I need to bring water from Multan or something. When Mayg went to get me some water, it seem like the saanwli saloni see mehbooba... going to a lake to fill her matka and me getting jealous of the matka getting all the attention with her arms around it....

So we are now trying to settle into this major change in the household where we have to go down a hill to fetch a pail of water from the well or something. Aah...the life... and the random post around it.

P.S. This is the 4th UTP Unwinds post in a row. I was holding on to this one to get the Mayg flavor back on the blog. Guess we'll have to wait and live with another post from UTP.
